Yes, we offer both virtual and in-person therapy sessions to meet your needs. Our in-person services are available at our Plano, TX office, while virtual therapy is accessible to clients anywhere in Texas. Whether you prefer the comfort of home or the connection of in-person support, our licensed therapists are here to help in the way that works best for you.
We are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, we’re happy to provide a monthly superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many clients find that out-of-network care gives them greater flexibility, more privacy, and the freedom to choose a therapist who’s the best fit—not just one in-network. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to learn about your out-of-network mental health benefits, including reimbursement rates and deductibles.
At Layers Counseling Specialists, we choose to remain out-of-network so we can provide the highest quality of care—without the limitations and restrictions imposed by insurance companies. This allows us to spend more time with each client, use evidence-based therapies tailored to your needs, and maintain full confidentiality.
Staying out-of-network also protects the well-being of our clinicians. We’re committed to fair compensation and sustainable caseloads so our therapists can stay energized, focused, and deeply present with their clients. Insurance rarely reimburses for the time, training, and specialization our team brings—especially when working with complex or nuanced concerns.
To make care more accessible, we’ve developed a dual-tier model with both Specialists and Focused Clinicians and offer a limited number of sliding scale spots. If affordability is a concern, please let us know during your consultation—we’ll work with you to find the right fit.
Absolutely. Your privacy is one of our highest priorities. Everything you share in session is kept strictly confidential, in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines. The only exceptions are rare situations involving safety concerns—such as risk of harm to yourself or others—where we are legally required to take appropriate action. If you ever have questions about confidentiality, we’re happy to talk through them with you.
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed entirely—will be charged the full session fee. We do this to honor our therapists’ time and to ensure availability for others who may need support.
New clients typically start within 7 days. Urgent cases are prioritized—call [phone] for availability.
OCD is a highly specialized area of mental health, and not all therapists are trained in evidence-based treatments like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is considered the gold standard. This level of specialization means there are fewer providers overall—especially within insurance networks.
Many OCD specialists also choose to remain out-of-network due to limitations imposed by insurance companies, such as lower reimbursement rates, rigid treatment protocols, and high caseload demands that can compromise quality of care. As a result, it can be difficult to find an in-network provider who is both qualified and available.
Even if you’re unable to find an in-network OCD specialist, out-of-network care is still accessible. Many providers, including us, offer superbills that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. This allows you to receive expert, personalized care without being limited by your network.
At Layers Counseling Specialists, we’re committed to helping you access the high-quality OCD treatment you deserve—whether in person or virtually.
